For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I have made you light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” Acts 13:47
The sense of mission that is visible in my community is the government trying to fulfill its promises to the people. Our government’s mission is to improve our country’s status. Also, they wish to remove corruption so that they could help the poor and the needy in simple ways such as donating some food, or hosting a drive that could fund for their homes. Overall, this shows that the mission visible in my community is the improvement that the government wants the people to have, and the promises they wish to fulfill.
There are several problems and hindrances that our government is facing, which is why our country’s position has not improved. First, even though a lot of our government leaders promise that every single amount of money will be used for the improvement of the Philippines, some simply cannot control themselves, resulting them to steal from the people’s money. Second, the Filipinos themselves are seen as hindrances to our country’s improvement because no matter how many laws are approved by the government, many still do not follow. Which is why even though many Filipinos are thirsty for improvement and a better society, no one really achieves this, leaving our society with no improvement, leaving us at the bottom. Lastly, the political leaders of our society themselves are the people who commit crimes, giving them the motive to commit crimes as well but with the money of the country. Overall, this shows that we, Filipinos, are the problems that hinder the success of the mission that the government wants to accomplish.
There are many solutions that we can do so that the problems our government is facing can be solved. First, the political leaders should reflect. Reflecting would lead to the idea that corruption would the people no good. Then, we need to remember and apply the idea of equity. Equity can make the distribution of goods equal based on the situation of the receiver, meaning that the poor would receive more help, considering their financial status. Lastly, we need to change. We should act so that we can see the change we want to see. In conclusion, this means that even though we, Filipinos, are hindrances, we are also the solution for the mission that the government wants to fulfill.
Which is why I want to involve myself as a disciple of Jesus in transforming my world according to Jesus’s commands. First, I want to host a cleaning drive that aims to provide cleanliness in several areas around me. The cleaning would not only benefit me, but also benefit others since they can go around a clean environment. Second, I also want to donate some spare money for the poor and needy. If allotted properly, this could give them food that can last for many days. Lastly, I wish to pray for the
betterment of the world. I believe that with Jesus’s guidance and blessings, the world can slowly be shaped to the healthy and full form like it was in the past.
