But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18
Family, friends, and the support you receive from them are just some of the many other key components that are considered essential to one's growth as a person. First, a family is considered essential in your growth as a person because from the very start, they have been the people who helped you grow and improve to become the person you are today. Second, friends who were always present in your times of need is an essential factor for you to grow as well because, without them, you would have kept your thoughts and problems to yourself, hindering you from the growth you want to achieve. Lastly, their support is also very essential to growing as a person because you should be surrounded by people who also want you to improve, rather than being surrounded by people who pull you down. Overall, this shows that family, friends, and the strength you gain from their support are essential factors for you to see growth.
Since St. John Baptist De La Salle's parents passed away in his early years, it is surprising that he has still achieved success in life despite being without his parents' support and guidance for him. Knowing this, this shows that he looked up to a parent-figure, Mother Mary, as his parent role-model. Mother Mary was very pure and good to everyone, which is why St. John Baptist De La Salle wanted to dedicate his life in service of the poor and the needy.
One key moment of my life is choosing to transfer to a new school, rather than staying in my former-school. I knew that that decision would have a big impact in my life since transferring to a different school will not just make it back-breaking for me to adjust to the new culture, but also give me difficulty in making new friends. Although I had a hard time deciding, I finally decided on transferring here to DLSU.
Even though St. John Baptist De La Salle had his share of controversies with different people, he had always been very respectful. For me, it was because it doesn't matter if he is right or wrong, he always protected his stand nicely and respectfully. Also, he handled those difficulties with faith in God, that even if he knew he was in the right, he would always pray for guidance from God.
Since St. John Baptist De la Salle was very respectful, he was also humble as well. He always swallowed his pride, showing respect and recognizing where he came from. He was also never arrogant because of his success. He always knew that being arrogant would never lead to anything good, which is why he was very down-to-earth to everyone.
Just like St. John Baptist De la Salle, we also have to be humble. Which is why whenever I think about my own death, I do not wish to have some kind of legacy. I wish to die like an ordinary man so that even if I die, only a few will mourn for my passing.
